The mash bill starts with traditional Kentucky rye grain, then Canadian rye from our award-winning Alberta distillery is layered in. Finally, the whiskey is finished with a touch of California Port. Kentucky rye gives Basil Hayden Dark Rye a firm base of spice, rich oak, dried fruit and molasses, while Canadian rye accentuates the depth of the dried fruit adding a more substantial and viscous mouthfeel. The California Port adds complementary notes of juicy, ripe fruit and gives the bourbon its trademark ruby hue
